Yunho Singer-Songwriter and Actor Career

Yunho started his career at an early age when he was in middle school. When he was a child his family used to work in the legal industry and his dream was to be a prosecutor.

At the time of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, his family was suffering a lot from the crisis and his family members didn’t want him to be a singer. So to prove himself while he was training in Seoul, he was doing part-time jobs.

He and his friends formed a dance team named A+ and used to compete in different competitions when they were in middle school. In 1999 he won a winning prize at the 1st Annual SM Best Competition and was signed by S.M. Entertainment in 2001 as Trainees.

Throughout his trainee years, he joined four of the temporary groups which were all disbanded later. Later In 2001 when he was fifteen years old he was featured in Dana’s debut single “Diamond”, as a rapper and backup dancer, and even toured with her.

In 2002, he was also selected as Shinhwa’s backup dancer and was about to be part of the Four Seasons which was a project boy band with Kim Jae-joong, Kim Hee-chul, and Kangin. Later on, he joined TVXQ in 2003 as the band leader with Jaejoong, and the Four Seasons project was dropped.

Career in TVXQ

The group TVXQ debuted on December 26, 2003, at a BoA and Britney Spears showcase and the members of the TVXQ band were Yunho, Max Changmin, Jaejoong, Park Yoo-chun, and Kim Jun-su. They debuted with their single song named “Hug” which was a huge hit in South Korea. After Hug, they released their second album named Rising Sun in 2005 and won a Grand Award at the Mnet KM Music Festival. 2008 they released their 4th album named Mirotic in 2008 and one Album of the Year at the 2008 Mnet KM Music Festival and a Golden Disc Awards.

In 2005, the TVXQ band released their first Japanese single called Stay with Me Tonight staying at number 37 in Oricon Singles Chart. they even got their number-one single Japanese song called Purple Line released in 2008.

TVXQ was later disbanded cause Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu filed a legal case for SM Entertainment in July 2009 and officially disbanded in 2010. In 2011 once again Yunho and Changmin returned as a duo in TVXQ and released both Korean and Japanese albums making it the country’s best-selling and highest-grossing foreign music act.

Yunho Solo Career

On May 25, 2015, the news was announced that Yunho would release his first Japanese solo extended play U Know Y. With seven tracks and a mini-album including five songs that were already performed by him in TVXQ’s concerts and solo events which was held in Japan. And on July 8, 2015, the mini-album was released.

On May 3, 2019, another new album was announced which would be a Korean language album, and debuted the extended play, True Colors which was released on June 12. December 17, 2020, he announced that he would be back in January 2021, and as of January 18, 2021, he released his second extended play, Noir with a lead single named “Thank U”.

On February 9, 2022, his second Japanese extended play was released called You Go Ahead.

And on August 7, 2023, he released his third Korean extended play called Reality Show.

Yunho Acting Career

Yunho did a decent movie in a few years of his acting career. He appeared in a lot of movies. He made his acting debut in 2009 playing a lead role in Heading to the Ground the romantic comedy TV series but it was a flop and got criticized for lack of acting skills.

From September to December 2010 the South Korean television drama Goong started with Yunho based on music and From November 2012 to January 2013 he again started his second musical Gwanghwamun Sonata which was a story in South Korea during the democratic movement in the 1980s.

In 2013 he starred in the melodrama as a wealthy heir with ice hockey skills called King of Ambition and he even won the People’s Choice award at the 2013 Seoul International Drama Awards.

In 2014 he starred in the historical action drama as a swordsman called Diary of a Night Watchman. He also starred in a web series as a chef called I Order You premiered in July 2015.

Yunho also starred in Meloholic as of May 2017 which was a romantic mystery drama by Orion Cinema Network.

He has also appeared in the MBC sitcom Nonstop 4 and participated in the Vacation television drama Dating on Earth starring all of the members of the TVXQ movie.

Yunho Rushed to the Hospital

On October 14, 2006, while TVXQ was filming a show Yunho drank a beverage that was mixed with superglue given by his hater and had to be rushed to the hospital. The female whose surname was Ko, was arrested on October 16 for the superglue charge and she was a member of the anti-TVXQ website for two years.

Yunho later contacted the police and requested police not press charges against Ko, She was the age of his sister. He also stated that it “affected him more mentally than physically”. It is still unclear how Ko got to the set of that show.

Yunho COVID-19 Violation

On March 12, 2021, Yunho was charged with violating the COVID-19 restrictions after visiting a bar with his friends in Gangnam after 10 p.m. For the violation, he apologized on his Instagram account, and on September 2, 2021, his charges were cleared, and a small fine was made.
