Yun Ok-hee Archer Career

Yun Ok-hee started her archery career in 1995 when she was a 10-year-old girl and started her international debut in 2005 at The Asian Archery Grand Prix Tournament (5th Korea International Archery Tournament) which was held in Ulsan, South Korea.

2008 Summer Olympics

In the 2008 Summer Olympics, Yun Ok-hee was ranked behind the ranking leader Park Sung-hyun with a total of 667 Points, Six points. After competing she was in second seed for the completion bracket where her opposite was Albina Kamalitdinova in her first round beating the point 109-102.  Similarly in the second round, She faced with Marie-Peir Beaudet with points (114-107) and in the third round, she advanced with Chen Ling for her quarter-finals. With 111-105, she led with Khatuna Lorig. Dispointely she couldn’t win against her tough competitor Zhang Juanjuan, who had newly set the Olympic Record by Park Sung-Hyun of 115 points earlier that day. With 109 points, she was not enough to advance to the final. With 109 points she was good enough to win the bronze medal match, beaten by North Korean Kwon Un-sil.

In team events was teamed with Park Sung-hyun and Joo Hyun-Jung. With a 667 score from the training round combined with the 673 of Park and the 664 of Joo the South Korean team was in first position after the ranking round. With the Italian team, they went with the point 231-217. Besides, 231 was a new set for World Record. In Semifinal with France, they scored 213 points whereas Fancy scored 184 securing the final spot.

Besides, their opponent team chin was a stronger competitor with a strong point of 215 but also south Korea won the gold medal with a 224-point score.

In 2006, she competed at the 2006 Asian Games, where her team won a gold medal and individual they won a silver medal, in the year 2010, she competed at the 2010 Asian Games, where she was honored with gold medals as an individual and team event.

2013 Comeback

After being absent for two years, Yun was once more chosen for the South Korean team in 2013. In 2013, she won two stages of the Archery World Cup, made it to the semi-finals of the World Archery Championships, and on September 22, 2013, she defeated Deepika Kumari of India 6-4 to win the 2013 Archery World Cup Final, ending the year once more as the top-ranked archer in the world.
