TS Entertainment also used to be known as TS ENTER was one of the South Korean record labels and entertainment agencies managing K-groups and artists such as Untouchable, Secret, B.A.P., Sonamoo, and TRCNG. The company was founded by Kim Tae-song on October 8, 2008, located at 788-6 Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. They officially shut down on January 31, 2021, as the CEO and founder Kim Tae-song died.

TS Entertainment History

TS Entertainment is one of the South Korean record labels and entertainment agencies managing K-groups and artists founded by Kim Tae-song on October 8, 2008. After the company was founded they signed Untouchable a duo group as their first artist and released their debut single “It’s Okay” on October 10, 2008.

After signing Untouchable TS Entertainment officially signed and debuted a four-member girl group called Secret on October 13, 2009, with their first digital single “I Want You Back”. The girl group was first introduced to the public on the reality TV show called Secret Story on Mnet.

After signing a duo and a girl group TS Entertainment started itself outside South Korea through Ts Japan in July 2011 in Tokyo, Japan.

As of January 26, 2012, TS Entertainment again debuted a boy band called B.A.P with their first single called “Warrior”. The six-member boy band B.A.P was introduced publicly through SBS MTV Korea television music channel on January 8, 2012, as Ta-Dah, It’s B.A.P.

On December 29, 2014, TS Entertainment debuted a seven-member girl group with the mini album Deja Vu called Sonamoo.

TS Entertainment again debuted a boy band on October 10, 2017, called TRCNG, with their first mini album named New Generation. After all this sadly the CEO and founder of TS Entertainment Kim Tae-song, passed away on April 27, 2018, but the reason for the death was not stated by the wishes of his family, and all inquiries from the press were denied.

The TS Entertainment agency released an official statement, saying,

“TS Entertainment CEO Kim Tae Song passed away on April 27. In accordance with the wishes of his family, we politely decline any inquiries from the press. We ask for your understanding. Please pray that he can rest in peace.”

As of January 31, 2021, TS Entertainment shut itself down privately without disclosure and deleted its official website too.

On March 2023, a genuine 2012 MAMA Mnet PD’s Choice Award of B.A.P, which the group got was handled to TS Entertainment was found in a secondhand kpop store in the Philippines for USD 4 or Philippines 4000 won and was revealed on TikTok.

TS Entertainment Legal Matters

Lawsuit by B.A.P Boy Group

On November 27, 2014, B.A.P Boy Group six members filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment to resolve their contracts with the agency and to claim their unfair profit distribution and conditions. The following day, TS Entertainment also issued a press disproving the claims and stated that:

“there have been neither such maltreatment to the artists nor unfair clauses in the contract.”

As of August 1, 2015, both B.A.P. and TS Entertainment settled the profit distribution and conditions.

The lawsuit by Jieun and Hyoseong

On February 28, 2018, Jieun and Hyoseong had a legal argument. So Jieun submitted a request to the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and publicized that she was leaving the Secret Girl group and TS Entertainment and posted it on her Instagram account.

After Jieun left the Secret Girl group Hyoseong also filed a civil lawsuit to terminate her contract with TS Entertainment on March 5. Later Hyoseong publicized that she was leaving the Secret Girl group following the departure of Hyoseong TS Entertainment shut down the Girl group Secret.

Lawsuit by Sleepy

On September 14, 2019, Sleepy of the Duo group Untouchable filed a case against TS Entertainment to end his contract with them. He said they refused to show him payment documents and a copy of his contract with them. He also said that he did not receive any payment from TS Entertainment even after 10 years after his contract was signed.

Later TS Entertainment denied these statements and said it was all incorrect and that Sleepy stole funds from the company which was later denied by Sleepy himself. And the next day TS Entertainment was charged for having overdue payments to their artists.

The lawsuit by Sumin and Nahyun

After the Sleepy case on September 14, 2019, Sumin and Nahyun of Sonamoo filed a case against TS Entertainment on September 23, 2019, to terminate their contracts. They said they sent documents asking to end their contracts with TS Entertainment in May but they ignored it so they filed a case. After the news was out TS Entertainment said that Sumin and Nahyun suddenly cut contact with them and their Sonamoo group after they sent those documents and the Sonamoo will continue as a five-member group

The lawsuit by Wooyeop and Taeseon

In the same year as Sleepy, Sumin, and Nahyun on 2019 November 4, Wooyeop and Taeseon a members of TRCNG sent a document to terminate their contracts and filed a case for child abuse, criminal battery, and extortion accusing company executives and employees of TS Entertainment. Wooyeop and Taeseon said that they were forced by TS Entertainment to practice their choreography from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wooyeop and Taeseon also claimed that while they were under the age of eighteen, they were forced to live under poor living conditions, with no proper meals had issues with electricity cutting out, and broken air conditioners, plumbing, and water purifying systems on their dorm. Wooyeop even claimed that TRCNG’s choreography team head Yoon used to beat them using a metal chair and Taeseon claimed that he was beaten regularly.
